Amplify’s Fellowship is designed to support public installations, book and publishing projects, films, performances, and other site-responsive or publicly engaged project-based work that happens outside larger institutional systems and conventional art spaces.
-
The Fellowship provides financial support and individualized project mentorship within a cohort-based learning environment that brings artists together to share ideas, challenges, and discoveries. Regular group site visits, lectures, and studio visits with arts professionals working in the field offer touchpoints throughout the year for project development and critical dialogue. This structure provides Fellows with the time and resources to conduct research, experiment with form, and realize projects that dissolve disciplinary boundaries and invite broader audiences into meaningful encounters with place.
-
Amplify’s Fellowship is open to artists, organizers, and culture workers based in the Omaha-metro area who cultivate inquiry-driven approaches to creating project-based work. As members of a small cohort, Fellows should be open to building a community grounded in generosity, curiosity, and critical dialogue that deepens and complicates creative work informed by how places are shaped, remembered, and lived.
-
Fellows are selected through an annual open call process. Up to three Fellows are selected each year by a panel of reviewers composed of arts professionals, educators, and members of Amplify’s staff, board, and community advisory group. Each applicant’s submission materials are reviewed independently by panelists, then discussed as a group. Finalists are invited to interview with panel members before final selections are made.
-
Fellows are expected to fully engage in the program by attending and participating in all scheduled meetings. They should approach their work and the work of other Fellows with curiosity, generosity, and a willingness to accept feedback and new critical perspectives. Fellows are also expected to responsibly manage their project budgets and logistics, with support from Amplify staff, and to share their work at a year-end event aligned with their project’s questions, methods, and ambitions.
