In "Above / Below," currently on view by appointment at Generator Space, Nick Clark and Anne Dovali turn their attention to investigating the ethereal's relationship to the concrete. Examining the representational and material weight of ground and sky, both artists embrace painting's potential to reorient phenomenological responses to standing squarely in the middle.

To close the exhibition, please join Nick and Anne for an afternoon of making and flying kites in Spring Lake Neighborhood Park. To foreground the experience of living in "in-between" states (in-between time, in-between place, in-between being) participants are invited to come together and contemplate floating in-between the sky above and ground below.

Participants will meet in the Spring Lake Neighborhood Park parking lot at 2pm. The lot is located at 1499 I Street (I Street between Spring Lake Drive and South 15th Street in Omaha). To kick off the afternoon, Nick and Anne will lead a kite making activity. Preassembled kite making kits will be available for each participant. After which, newly constructed kites will be set in flight.

Free and open to all, this is a socially distanced outdoor activity with intermittent periods of sitting, walking, and standing. Participants will remain a minimum of 6 ft apart and are encouraged to bring blankets and/or lawn chairs. Hand sanitizer, gloves, and kite making kits will be provided. Registration is required to participate in this program and attendance is limited to 12 people. Please RSVP on Amplify’s Eventbrite page.

"Above / Below" at Amplify's Generator Space is open for viewings by appointment through August 21st.
