WHAT IS A GENERATOR GRANT?
Amplify’s Generator Grants emphasize professional development by assisting Omaha area artists through the entire process of organizing, marketing, and presenting a curated group exhibition or performance. Generator Grants are designed to encourage artists to make their own opportunities through self-organizing, cultivate stronger peer communities, and connect emerging artists to wider audiences and patrons.
WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS?
Artists develop a curatorial concept, schedule studio visits with other artists, and create press releases and marketing materials to promote their event. Artists are also required to organize one additional public program in addition to the feature event. Amplify Arts is there each step of the way to lend support, advice, and resources that enable artist-generated content to take shape outside the context of larger institutional systems.
WHY PUBLIC PROGRAMS?
Generator Grant recipients also organize one public program in conjunction with their event. Public programs might include screenings, live performances, readings, lectures, workshops, or skill sharing sessions, just to name a few. By attaching public programming to each exhibition, artists reactivate their event, foster critical dialogue, and contribute to making Omaha’s cultural landscape more vibrant.
WHEN DO I APPLY?
Applications for Generator Grants are now closed. Submissions will be accepted again in the fall of 2019.
In early 2019 Amplify Arts had the great fortune to acquire 1804 Vinton Street (formerly known as Darger HQ) for exhibitions and performances that are part of our Generator Grants program. Moving forward the location will be known as Generator Space.
This space will connect Generator shows and performances to the 2nd Friday arts scene that Vinton Street has established, bringing more foot traffic and exposure to local artists.
